There are numerous supplementary tools for Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr, formerly SCCM or MECM) that extend existing endpoint management infrastructures. One of the best-known product families comes from the British-Swedish manufacturer 2Pint Software. It covers automated OS deployment, network booting, bandwidth management, peer-to-peer content distribution, device recovery, and remote monitoring.
In this article, you will learn which features 2Pint Software offers, which modules and suites are available, how they relate to one another, and how licensing works.
The essentials at a glance
- 2Pint Software complements existing endpoint management solutions like Microsoft Intune and Configuration Manager with features for OS deployment, bandwidth management, and remote monitoring.
- Modular platform: 2Pint offers specialized modules that can be licensed individually or in five different suites.
- Efficient OS deployment: With DeployR and iPXE Anywhere, operating systems can be deployed automatically – even over the internet and at locations without their own deployment servers.
- Optimized software distribution: StifleR, CacheR, and MOM control bandwidth, utilize peer-to-peer technologies, and reduce unnecessary downloads over WAN connections.
1 What is 2Pint Software?
2Pint Software is a software manufacturer founded in 2014 and based in Hovås, Sweden. It started with Microsoft's peer-to-peer technology, BranchCache, which the founders wanted to further develop and make practical for real-world use. To this day, the products are built on Microsoft technologies such as BranchCache, Delivery Optimization, BITS, and LEDBAT. Overall, 2Pint describes itself as a manufacturer of technologies for modern system and endpoint management with the slogan "Building better infrastructures. Enhanced endpoint management everywhere."
The products form a modular platform for operating system deployment, network and bandwidth management, content distribution, and remote monitoring and management (RMM). They are primarily aimed at larger companies with many end devices and distributed locations.
Unlike classic unified endpoint management (UEM) solutions , 2Pint does not cover all areas of device management. Instead, the platform specifically complements existing tools where they reach their limits. According to the manufacturer, the products work with Configuration Manager, Intune, and solutions from other providers. At the end of September 2026, 2Pint and Omnissa announced a partnership and the integration of 2Pint products into Workspace ONE UEM and Horizon.
2 What features does 2Pint Software offer?
The focus is on automating deployments, efficiently utilizing existing bandwidth, monitoring, and rapidly restoring end-user devices.
Automated Operating System Deployment
DeployR allows for the standardization and automation of operating system installations. Administrators use task sequences to manage OS installation, driver integration, and application deployment.
Deployments run on-premises, from the cloud, or in a hybrid environment. In addition to Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server , the manufacturer states that DeployR Enterprise also supports Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat), IGEL OS, and ChromeOS Flex. Upon request, DeployR can hand over to Windows Autopilot after installation, allowing Intune to take over apps and configuration.
This is particularly relevant when transitioning from Configuration Manager to Intune, as Intune itself does not install operating systems on empty or defective devices. 2Pint explicitly states that a goal is to enable the replacement of Configuration Manager with DeployR.
Network Boot from Any Location
With iPXE Anywhere (sometimes referred to as "BootR" in 2Pint presentations), devices boot directly into the installation over the network. Boot images are loaded via HTTP or HTTPS instead of the slower TFTP. This allows network booting to work across locations, via Wi-Fi, and over the internet. The boot files are signed by Microsoft, so Secure Boot can remain enabled.
According to the manufacturer, this also works in networks with 802.1x authentication, where traditional PXE often fails. iPXE Anywhere works in conjunction with Configuration Manager or can be controlled independently via PowerShell.
Intelligent Network and Bandwidth Management
Software packages, operating system images, and updates generate large volumes of data. When distributed to many end devices simultaneously, WAN and VPN connections quickly become bottlenecks.
StifleR monitors network transfers in real time and throttles BITS and Delivery Optimization downloads based on current network conditions. This ensures that large software distributions do not unnecessarily interfere with other business-critical applications, and urgent security updates can be prioritized.
Peer-to-Peer Content Distribution
With peer-to-peer distribution, end devices download content not only from central servers or the internet but also from other clients within the same network.
This is particularly worthwhile at locations with many devices that require the same updates or applications. Instead of transferring identical files multiple times over the WAN connection, existing content is shared locally.
The prerequisite is that technologies such as BranchCache or Delivery Optimization are enabled and the content is already present on other devices at the location. This is exactly where CacheR (targeted pre-distribution) and MOM (peer-to-peer for internet downloads) come in.
Real-time monitoring and analytics
StifleR uses dashboards to show which devices are currently downloading content, via which technology, and with how much bandwidth – from the site level down to the individual client. It captures not only software distributionbut the network traffic of all applications. Ongoing OS deployments and Windows Autopilot processes, including app installations, can be tracked in real time.
DeployR additionally shows which task sequences are running, completed, or failed. This allows bottlenecks and errors to be identified and resolved more quickly, especially during large rollouts.
Disaster recovery
2Pint views deployment and recovery as a single, cohesive process: a defective or compromised device is rebuilt using the same automated workflow as a new one. On the product pages for DeployR and RecoveR, 2Pint describes the combination as a "unified, fully automated platform for standardized, scalable deployment and recovery of devices across all operating systems and hardware environments." DeployR Enterprise therefore includes its own built-in device recovery functions.
RecoveR builds on this and is designed for emergencies such as blue screens, misconfigurations, or ransomware attacks. Devices boot via the network or the internet into a recovery menu and are rebuilt from there. According to the manufacturer, devices can alternatively boot directly from a virtual hard disk (VHD) in the cloud or data center, or serve temporarily as a thin client for Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop until the rebuild is complete.
Remote management and troubleshooting
With RemoteR, administrators can access managed Windows devices remotely. Available features include remote support with user approval, PowerShell and CMD consoles, Task Manager, registry, WMI and file viewing, event logs, and Device Manager.
RemoteR runs within StifleR and requires it to be installed. StifleR already includes some basic remote tools.
Integration into existing environments
2Pint does not replace existing management solutions; it complements them. Typical examples:
- After installation, DeployR hands over to Windows Autopilot and Intune.
- StifleR controls and optimizes Intune and Windows Update traffic via Delivery Optimization.
- The OSD Toolkit makes existing ConfigMgr or MDT task sequences peer-to-peer capable.
Autopilot and 2Pint complement each other: Autopilot is suitable for new devices directly from the manufacturer and for simple resets. If a device needs to be completely reinstalled after a hardware replacement, due to suspected malware, or without an Entra connection, iPXE Anywhere and DeployR come into play.
3 An overview of 2Pint modules and suites
2Pint categorizes its products into three application areas:
- OS Deployment & Recovery Deploy, rebuild, and restore devices with DeployR, RecoveR, iPXE Anywhere, and the OSD Toolkit.
- Network & Bandwidth Management Distribute content efficiently and reduce network load with StifleR, CacheR, and MOM.
- Remote Monitoring & Management Monitor and support devices remotely with RemoteR.
Modules are licensed individually or as part of a suite. Some suites bundle modules from multiple areas.
Good to know: The 2Pint modules are built on a common platform and share some of the same components. For example, monitoring for DeployR Enterprise runs via StifleR servers and clients and appears in the StifleR dashboard; features like Autopilot tracking are therefore available in both products. As a result, the boundaries between modules are not always clear-cut, and product and license names do not always align. We are happy to clarify which features are included in a specific license on a case-by-case basis.
Which modules does 2Pint Software offer?
Which suites does 2Pint Software offer?
2Pint bundles its modules into five suites. A single module may be included in multiple suites—for instance, DeployR Enterprise is part of the 2Pint Suite, the DeployR Suite, and the RecoveR Suite.
2Pint Suite: the complete package
The 2Pint Suite is the most comprehensive package. It contains all paid modules and is the only suite that includes RemoteR.
This includes operating system deployment with DeployR and iPXE Anywhere, recovery with RecoveR, content distribution with StifleR, CacheR, and MOM, as well as remote administration with RemoteR. The suite is ideal for companies that want to cover several of these tasks with a single product family.
DeployR Suite: automated operating system deployment
The DeployR Suite combines DeployR Enterprise, iPXE Anywhere, and the OSD Toolkit.
DeployR Enterprise automates deployment processes. According to the manufacturer, the key features are:
- Task sequence engine based on PowerShell 7 with a web-based interface
- Scenarios: New installation (Bare Metal), in-place upgrade, and refresh
- Installation types: Light Touch Installation (LTI), User Driven Installation (UDI) with selection menus for technicians or users, and Zero Touch Installation (ZTI), where task sequences are pushed to specific devices
- Automatic download of OEM driver packages (including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft) or manual driver management
- Windows, Linux, IGEL OS, and ChromeOS Flex on x64 and ARM64 hardware
- Role-based access control (RBAC) and assignment of device and application roles
- Real-time monitoring, troubleshooting of running sequences via browser, and historical analysis
- Handover to Windows Autopilot, support for Entra Join and real-time tracking of Autopilot processes
- Peer-to-peer via BranchCache integrated by default
iPXE Anywhere complements network booting via PXE, HTTP(S), Wi-Fi, or USB. It consists of the 2PXE server and the iPXE Anywhere web service, which allows boot menus and processes to be customized via PowerShell.
The OSD Toolkit enables BITS and BranchCache within WinPE. This allows installation content to be shared between clients at this early stage. It can also be integrated into existing ConfigMgr or MDT task sequences.
Together, the three components enable standardized deployments—even at locations without their own servers.
RecoveR Suite: Deployment and recovery from a single source
The RecoveR Suite implements the "DeployR + RecoveR" platform concept: it includes DeployR Enterprise as its core and adds RecoveR, iPXE Anywhere, StifleR, and CacheR. For new builds, RecoveR uses DeployR within the suite; according to 2Pint, other methods such as Configuration Manager OSD can also be used as an alternative.
It combines automated OS deployment with network booting, bandwidth management, and pre-caching. If a device's operating system fails to start, it can be rebuilt over the network or the internet—without a USB drive and without an on-site technician. This requires the device firmware to support HTTPS boot or for a UEFI boot entry for RecoveR to have been set up in advance.
This is particularly relevant in the event of ransomware attacks or large-scale outages, when many devices need to be restored in a short amount of time. 2Pint promises to reduce recovery time from days to hours. According to the manufacturer, RecoveR can also be combined with out-of-band management solutions such as Intel EMA and AMD DASH.
The RecoveR Suite is suitable for companies looking to standardize their recovery processes and reduce downtime.
StifleR Suite: Network and Bandwidth Management
The StifleR Suite combines StifleR, CacheR, and MOM to optimize the distribution of software, updates, and other content across the corporate network.
StifleR is the central component. It leverages Microsoft's peer-to-peer services, BranchCache and Delivery Optimization, and controls the speed of BITS and Delivery Optimization downloads. Key features include:
- Real-time monitoring of all downloads, from the site level down to the individual client
- Dynamic bandwidth control, including for VPN connections
- Management of peer-to-peer connections
- Automatic detection of networks and locations
- Monitoring of OS deployments and Windows Autopilot
- Network usage of all applications as well as security and app telemetry from endpoints
- Reporting and historical analysis
- Remote troubleshooting tools
- Automation via WMI and PowerShell
CacheR shows which clients and locations have specific content already cached. Additionally, CacheR can automatically distribute content to selected locations in advance (pre-caching) so that it is available locally when the rollout begins.
The Metadata Optimization Manager (MOM) acts as a caching proxy. It calculates BranchCache metadata for downloads from the internet or CDNs that do not natively support peer-to-peer. Examples include driver downloads from manufacturer websites or updates for Microsoft Edge, OneDrive, Adobe products, and Firefox.
Working together, StifleR controls and monitors data traffic, CacheR provides transparency regarding cached content, and MOM makes additional content peer-to-peer enabled.
iPXE Anywhere Suite: Network Boot
The iPXE Anywhere Suite combines iPXE Anywhere with the OSD Toolkit. It is suitable for companies that want to optimize their existing operating system deployment—for example, with Configuration Manager – want to keep and only improve network boot and content transfer.
4 How is 2Pint Software licensed?
- Subscription: 2Pint is licensed exclusively as an annual subscription; perpetual licenses are not available. Unlike many SaaS subscriptions, however, the license does not renew automatically.
- Per endpoint: This includes desktops, laptops, virtual machines, tablets, and thin clients running Windows or Linux; smartphones are excluded.
- Minimum quantity: The entry-level license covers up to 1,000 endpoints; beyond that, billing is per endpoint.
- Price lists: There are separate prices for the private sector and for the public sector or non-profit organizations.
- Support: Manufacturer support with fixed response times is included in the subscription.
- Testing: Most products can be tested for free for 30 days. DeployR Community and the standard version of the OSD Toolkit are permanently free.
